Chinese contemporary music is in a realm of its own. Eastern and western cultures synthesize to create an architectural landscape of immense beauty and clarity. Gabriella Smart performs piano works by some of China's most eminent composers, whom she met during her concert tours of China. During her visits to China, Smart was moved by the inherent beauty and emotional freedom of the music. The program will feature works by internationally acclaimed composers Zhu Jian'er, Xiaoyong Chen , and Qin Yi as well as Smart's acclaimed performance of Academy Award winner Tan Dun's 'Traces'.
